Completion of a city block Urban development study of a city block between the streets Koliště, Cejl a Vlhká
Vik, Ondřej ; Nový, Vítězslav (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
WIDER RELATIONS: The situation of the proposal is outlook and is based on the assumption that the derelict area will be rehabilitated in the so-called Bronx in Brno. It is envisaged to move the main railway station to the "river" position and to use the existing railway embankment for pedestrians and cyclists. TRANSPORT: The street Koliště serves as a transport sewer. I propose a narrowing of the communication profile and cancellation of a separate turn right from Koliště street to Cejl Street. This step allows for better work with block mass and more convenient pedestrian communication. This step assumes completion of a larger urban circuit but is not dependent on it. The town block is connected by the entrance to the underground garages from Koliště street. Parking in front of the building of the City Police Headquarters is reduced and converted into a pre-space corresponding to the importance of the building.

Ferenc, Kryštof ; Halfar, Jiří (referee) ; Mikulášek, David (advisor)
The goal if this thesis is to design a house built in a city. This fact has influenced both the choice of the building's functions and its layout. The house on Křížová street, Brno, Czech Republic, has been designed to fit in the city and to shape its environment – both the street and the block's inner courtyard. The focus of the building is to help creating a pleasant urban space, while at the same time allowing for a maximal comfort of its flats and other spaces. In functional terms, the house is a combination of commercial spaces on the ground floor, and of flats and offices on the higher floors. The housing was designed to be variable and to offer a wide scale of standards.

Kašpárek, Michal ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
Bachelor's study deals with design of a multifunctional building with prevailing residential function, complemented by cafe and architectural studio. Building plat is located in the gap in the Milada Horáková's street. The polyfunctional house neighbors with the important Art Nouveau building designed by an architect Josef Müller and modern residential house designed by an architect Dalibor Borak. Buildings site is important mainly due to the short distance from the city center. On the first floor is designed café and a passage that connects Milada Horaková's street with courtyard and is used as access to the living area of the house. The residential part is located on the second till the ninth floor. There are five proposed maisonettes, which are characteristic of representative social part that goes over two floors. Functional use of the house closes architectural studio in the attic with the social and exhibition area on the lower floor and office on the top floor.
City House – Mixet Use Architecture
Starý, Ondřej ; Urbášková,, Hana (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The main goal of the project is to design a city house near the central part of Brno as an alternative for the existing monofunctional zones and finding out the most suitable functions for the area. The idea is based on a compact city block which communicates with the events on the streets and connects them together to the house via inner atrium. Within the intensive urban structure, housing was chosen for the most important component because nowadays it disappears from the city centres. As the prerequisite for the high-quality living, the residential floors were raised on a three-storey platform which integrates the culture, offices and the commercial use. The roof of the platform is also used as a green roof terrace with a lot of vegetation which protects the living against the polution and noise from the traffic. So it becomes a safe and calm place for the relaxation and children´s games in a busy part of the city. The important point of view where the emphasis was placed was connecting all the functions together not only within the house itself, but also within the range of the whole city. The house functions and the street area are mutually connected via inner public atrium which becomes the important people meeting site. The residential floors are connected to the rest of the house through the large roof skylight which allows the sun rays to reach the lower floors. So the city house doesn´t hide its purpose on its own, but rather "lives together with the city".
Hlinky Town House in the Old Brno district
Pill, Tomáš ; Bělovský, Michal (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is the design of a town house in a gap on street Hlinky. The site is located in Staré Brno. The site has an important location - the foot of the Yellow Hill, near Brněnské výstaviště. The site is a narrow rectangle with a shorter side facing the street. It is accessible from only one side. Current usage is for three automobile garages, but is mostly unused. Retaining wall crossing site, stops the slope from the north side. The designed object responds to its location with a mass and spatial solution. It tries to fill in broken street line, connects the two adjacent buildings. In terms of height, the building creates a slight local height dominant, but suppresses its height by gradual pushing in of the top floors and their material differentiation. This also reflects the usage layout of the floors. The building uses the whole site. Functionally, the building is designed as a mixed-use house with a predominant administrative function, and the secondary component is permanent housing, namely two apartments. The building thus respects the existing master plan. One of the design's priorities was natural lighting. The site allows sun tho pass to the building only from the southern and northern side. This fact was key to the mass and layout design. The layout consists of a closed narrow strip where stairs, elevator and sanitary facilities are located and an open space with a glass façade on both sides. All rooms which require daylight the most and do not prevent light from reaching central part of layout are located on the southern façade.

The object of this thesis is a design of a polyfunctional house on Křížová street, Brno, Czech Republic. The design follows up the previously proposed reconstruction of Mendel square (and its change from a solely transit area to a target area), which is a prerequisite for this project. The city house has shops and commercial spaces on the ground floor, offices on the second floor, traditional flats on the third floor, while the fourth and five floors offer alternative housing in the form of “roof houses”, which combine the advantages of both having a family house and living in an urban environment. There are underground garages below the building, a hotel inside of it and a multipurpose hall in the courtyard.

The plan of library as the modern city house, mediateque with hall, which will serve mainly to the people and will make friendly ambience like from the inside between books, so for surroundings, where the new places for rest will take place and also for meetings with friends or you can buy something from local farmers. The GAP in Brno
Bartoňková, Markéta ; Hýlová, Adéla (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The undeveloped gap directly invites its completion, the closure of the block. Due to the nature of its surroundings, the newly created building will fulfil the function of housing. It will provide new apartments and a unique atmosphere for its new residents. As it is located on a distinctive street, so the proposed house will follow this conceptual idea. It will not become invader or an intruder. The house becomes a new personality with respect for the elderly and pure romantic soul within.
